April 17th Open Lodge Meeting

Arthur M. Kaplan: The First First Responder

Please join the Brethren of Fulton Lodge No. 216 as we celebrate the memory of one of our members of distinction. There will be a presentation of “Arthur M. Kaplan: The First First Responder” given by his son Bro. and Dr. Ronald Kaplan, also a member of Fulton Lodge, and an accomplished individual in his own right, being both a medical doctor and an attorney. We will enjoy an evening of food and fellowship as Brother Kaplan gives his presentation about his father Brother and Judge Arthur Kaplan who began his career as a Navy frogman. This will be a unique experience to learn more about the life and exploits of Brother Arthur M. Kaplan, for whom the Scottish Rite Valley of Atlanta’s First Responders Award is named, from the perspective of someone who knew him best.

There are many stories to be told about this amazing man and Mason. One of the writers of this intro knew him personally, having been trained for the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team in First Aid, CPR, CPR Instructor, and CPR Instructor Instructor categories by Brother Kaplan. The writer personally went with Brother Kaplan, who was always wearing a white lab coat, with a red light on the dashboard, and armed for any confrontation, to render first aid.

This will be an open meeting for all Masons and non-Masons invited to attend. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m., and the presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the North Lodge Room of the Atlanta Masonic Center. Please RSVP below so that the Lodge may get an accurate headcount for dinner.
